Westman Naturalists - Species at Risk Spotlight - Red-headed Woodpeckers and Eastern Whip-poor-wills

Thursday, Mar 23, 2023 at 7:00PM

Brodie Building Rm 3-47, Brandon University

Red-headed Woodpeckers, known for their striking plumage, and Eastern Whip-poor-wills, known for their distinctive nighttime call, are two species at risk that breed within Manitoba Important Bird Areas (IBAs). Both of these special species are facing habitat loss and are the focus of the IBA Program’s Conservation Champions initiative, designed to protect important species at risk habitat. Join this talk to learn more about these birds and their interesting adaptations, the Manitoba IBA program, and how to get involved in species at risk conservation.

Marissa Berard is the program coordinator for the Manitoba Important Bird Areas Program and the Manitoba Chimney Swift Initiative.

This is a hybrid event! Feel free to come in person to meet Marissa and see the talk, or join us via Zoom.
