Westman Naturalists - Riding Mountain Snowshoe Trek

Saturday, Jan 18, 2025 at 10:00AM

Riding Mountain National Park

Join Rae and Ken Kingdon while we explore some off-trail sites in Riding Mountain National Park. Expect relatively flat terrain, with trips covering a distance of 3-4km over 1.5hrs. Meeting at Wasagaming in the morning, we'll drive to whichever part of the park has caught our fancy. With luck we will see animals and their tracks, and a few boreal forest birds.

This trip is recommended for snowshoers of all skill levels, including beginners. If you don't have snowshoes, they are available for rent at Friends of Riding Mountain National Park at 154 Columbine St in Wasagaming (cost is $5 for the day, they open at 10am).

While we'll hope for good weather, if the temperature is below -25° C we may have to cancel either outing. Watch the forecast and your email if you sign up!

Participation: Please complete this short form to sign-up for this event. We will email you with specific details a day or so before the event. Car pooling might be available.
