Westman Naturalists - Duck Identification

Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 7:00PM

Brodie Building Rm 4-34, Brandon University & Online

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck - WHICH SPECIES IS IT?! Learn all about the distinguishing features of the colourful drakes and camouflaged hens of the waterfowl world as they return to their breeding grounds on the prairie potholes.

Jackie Dixon has had a lifelong love of birds and bird watching, culminating in a MSc in Zoology in Waterfowl ecology. She has spent many years working in the marshes of southern and northern Manitoba and in southern Ontario. Recently retired after 20 years of service with the Government of Manitoba, she now enjoys her time participating in bird surveys (owl, Sharp-tailed Grouse and breeding birds), hunting and fishing.

Participation: This is a hybrid event! Feel free to come in person to meet Jackie and see the talk, or join us via Zoom. To join us via Zoom, please complete and submit this short form to sign-up. We will email out the Zoom link the evening of the talk.
