Her Seat at the Table
A group of professional women in Brandon, called Her Seat at the Table, are hosting their first open house on December 3 for women who are potentially interested in running in the next civic election.
Her Seat at the Table (HSATT) was formed to inspire and help more women to run and successfully win seats at the Brandon City Council table and form a more inclusive government. Currently, Heather Karrouze, Councillor for Ward 1, is the only female councilor out of 11 council seats (including the Mayor’s seat).
The HSATT open house will take place Wednesday, December 3rd from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Back Yard on Aberdeen (Unit B, 1624 13th Street). Here, women can find the basics on running for Brandon City Council, as well as more support and resources related to running effective campaigns.
HSATT is grassroots led organization. Our mission is to support and empower women to run for seats on Brandon City Council by providing the training, mentorship, tools, and community needed to lead with confidence and purpose. We aim to break down barriers, amplify women's voices, and build a stronger, more representative Brandon for all.
