Westman Naturalists - Botany and Birding at Noble Lake

Sunday, Aug 21, 2022 at 9:00AM

Noble Lake

Summer may be winding down but there are still birds and plants to be seen and enjoyed. Join the Westman Naturalists on Sunday, August 21st for a botany and birding walk at Noble Lake.
We will walk through the Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation property along the west side of the Lake to see late blooming wildflowers and grasses in the tallgrass prairie there. For those interested in birding, this area and other points around the Lake offer good birding. If you are lucky you might spot the pair of Trumpeter Swans seen on the Lake earlier in August.

Noble Lake is about 45 minutes southeast of Brandon and 15 minutes south of Wawanesa. Bring your apps, bird and plant books, binoculars, cameras, etc. Don’t forget to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. A spotting scope may come in handy for the birds on the lake.

Trip Leader: Glennis Lewis
Trip Difficulty: This outing involves walking on mowed paths through grasslands and rough paths through forested areas. The terrain is mostly flat and the trails are approximately 3 km in distance. Birding locations involve parking and standing along a gravel road where there is occasional traffic.

To sign-up for this outing please complete this online form by 10am Saturday Aug 20 (the day before)... don’t forget to read the waiver.

We will email out the details of the meeting place on Saturday, and let you know by email of any changes due to weather etc.
